Writing Task 1 Sample

Letter Sample #66 – You are shifting out of your accommodation

GT Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing) Sample # 66

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You are shifting out of your accommodation next month. You think your current place of residence is suitable for your English speaking colleague who is arriving in your city next month.

Write a letter to your colleague. In your letter, explain:

  • why you are shifting out
  • describe your accommodation
  • why it is suitable for him/her

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear ……………,

Model Answer:

Dear James,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirit. I am so glad to know that you have finally decided to take a job in my city, which I believe is a great idea. But, it looks like I will have to leave out of my town for a few days. So, it would mean that I won’t get to meet you as soon as you arrive. However, I am eagerly waiting to meet you once I get back.

By the way, I am assuming that you have already arranged a suitable accommodation for your stay here. But, in case if you haven’t done so already, I would like to suggest that you can move into my flat which I will vacate next month. I have recently purchased a ready-flat in the Northshire area and will move there at the beginning of next month.

I have been living in this apartment for the last three years and it was one of the best accommodations I have ever lived in. It is a nice two-bedroom flat with two attached toilets and a large kitchen. The apartment is on the fourth floor and I love the view from my window.

Besides, it will take only 10 minutes to reach your office on a local bus. On top of that, the rent is really reasonable for a two-bedroom flat, which is conveniently sitting at a prime city location. So, just let me know what you think about my suggestion.

Warm wishes,

Manford
