Model Answer:

The growing inception of giant companies has led to a radical shift in the workforce towards huge businesses. The essay will suggest that training facilities, mentoring programmes and generous benefits are the biggest advantages of working at a giant company and discouraging creative thinking is the main disadvantage.

To begin with, large companies confer many advantages. One of the major advantages of big companies is training and mentoring programs. These programmes equip employees with many hard skills and these competencies can prove extremely valuable on the job market. Another significant advantage is opportunities for advancement. To illustrate, a company with more positions and abundant resources can open a broad window of opportunity, whether workers want to move vertically or laterally. This means that there is a huge chance to end up with a glittering career. Last but not least, giant corporations, usually, offer generous benefits and pay. For example, large corporations very often provide employees with extra perks, ranging from subsidized gym membership, daycare centre to library and social events.

Despite these advantages, the employees do face some disadvantages of working at a giant company. The primary downside is the lack of creative thinking opportunity. Put simply, big companies usually discourage thinking outside the box. The reason why large corporations do not encourage creative thinking is that they are risk-averse, and therefore they are less open to adopting a new approach to get the task done. Moreover, there are many channels and processes to go through before any issue gets solved. Furthermore, another severe disadvantage is a narrow range of experience and skills. Employees are likely to be assigned a specific type of responsibility. In consequence, it is hard to get a wide range of experience and competence.

In conclusion, working at a giant company confers both advantages and disadvantages. However, it is expected that large corporations will address the drawbacks they have and improve the working environment for the betterment of the employees as well as their business.
