Describe a prize you want to win.
You should say:
- what prize it is
- how you know (or learned) about it
- what you will need to do to win it
and explain why you would like to win this prize.
[You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.]
Winning a prize is always encouraging as it shows that we’re recognised and rewarded for our hard work and effort. It also motivates us to work and try harder with more dedication. Finally, it boosts our confidence and gives us a sense of fulfilment. So, I’d like to win the “National Emerging Artist Of The Year” award that comprises a certificate, prize money of 10 thousand USD, and a crest made of gold.
I’ve first learned about this prize and its significance from a teacher who used to teach us arts and painting in our elementary school. I was perhaps just eight or nine years old back then. The teacher mentioned this award and its importance to mainly motivate us to do better in his class. A few years later, I’ve learned more details about this prize and its worth from newspapers and a couple of TV programmes.
Well, I wish to win this award but I know that it’ll be very challenging and quite difficult. To win this prize, I’ll first have to submit some of my paintings for initial selection, and an essay about my future plan in arts and painting. If I’m short-listed, I’ll then need to take part in five regional art competitions to be able to compete at the final stage. After showing mastery in arts in the final round, someone can be considered to be titled as a national emerging artist of the year.
Well, I’d like to win it because I believe that I have got the required skill and talent to compete in it and finally win it. Moreover, it will be a great achievement and a milestone in life as a young and aspiring artist. So, please wish me luck!
