Model Answer:

I don’t really talk about money matters with others unless I have a very valid reason to do so. But, the other day, about a few months ago, I made it an exception and did talk about spending money with one of my rich friends, who had an interesting take on the whole subject.

As I have already mentioned, I had this talk with a wealthy friend of mine who didn’t have to worry about earning any money or spending them as he wishes. So, what was really coming out of his mouth had very little relevance to me since I had always taken a rather conservative approach in spending my money.

Of course, this conservative approach in spending my money also very much had to do with the fact that my family always had to struggle to earn money. So, anyway, when my rich friend told me that I was only wasting my life in trying to earn more money and spending only a little portion of it, I just couldn’t argue with him because, to be honest, I also had felt the same way sometimes. By the way, I agreed to have this discussion with my rich friend, only because I thought that I would get some valuable tips on saving more money. After all, I thought that people became rich only by saving more and more money. But, my rich friend proved me wrong by saying that most people become rich by spending money, not saving them, and taking calculated risks. Anyway, at the end of the conversation, I was also convinced that I needed to become a bit more adventurous with my money sometimes.

Anyway, the discussion was interesting, primarily because it taught me to become bolder with my money when it came to spending. Besides, I also learned from the conversation that people didn’t really need to worry so much about earning money as there are many other better things in this world to wish for.
