Model Answer:

Dear Mr Spencer,

I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing issue that has been causing significant discomfort to the residents of the University residence. It pertains to the high levels of noise emanating from the newly opened campus restaurant, which operates until midnight.

The incessant noise from the restaurant has become a persistent problem for the residents, particularly during the evening and late-night hours when we strive to concentrate on our studies and get a good night’s rest. The noise disrupts our ability to focus, affects our overall well-being, and hampers the quality of our academic endeavours.

In light of this, I kindly request that appropriate measures be taken to address this issue. Firstly, it would be greatly appreciated if soundproofing measures could be implemented in the restaurant’s design to minimise the noise that reaches the residential areas. Additionally, I propose that clear guidelines be established regarding acceptable noise levels and operating hours for establishments within close proximity to the University residences.

I trust in your commitment to maintaining a conducive living and learning environment for the University community. Your swift action and consideration in resolving this matter would be highly appreciated by all the residents affected by the noise.

Yours sincerely,

Ian Russell
