Begin your letter as follows:

Dear ……………………,

Model Answer:

Dear Mr Locus,

I hope this letter finds you in a good health and spirit. I also hope that this letter does not come to you as a shock, but I have finally decided to part away from the activities of your club.

In fact, I want to discontinue my membership because I just can not seem to agree with some of the decisions – decisions to exclude junior club members from the monthly club meeting and such – of the club authority which, I think, is hurting the image of this rather old and traditional club. By the way, I have a gold membership because remaining with it for more than 5 years, and I pay $100 cash a month in the club office each month.

But, before leaving this club, I must admit that I have learned and benefitted quite a lot from being a valuable member of this club over these years. For example, after being a member of this club, I have not only managed to make a new circle of friends but also managed to have a new level of confidence in me.

Wishing your club all the best.

Yours faithfully,

Terry Mitchel
