Model Answer:

It is argued by many that cooking meals at home are unnecessary because convenient food options are ubiquitous nowadays. I understand that cooking food at home is time-consuming, but I believe that preparing meals at home has so many benefits that it is not a waste of time and energy.

It goes without saying that the pace of modern life has become overwhelmingly fast. People hardly have free time to cook at home, and they are always consumed by workload. Many convenient food options, on the other hand, are prevalent in western society. Take fast food for an example. It is extremely easy to obtain, people, in most cases, do not even require to leave the comfort of their car to enjoy a meal. Besides, getting a meal from a restaurant is prompt; the food is usually prepared and served in just 10 minutes. These factors are the main contributors to the perspective that cooking at home is a waste of time as well as energy.

However, the benefits of home-cooked food are definitely worth the time and energy. Preparing a meal at home allows people to choose fresh ingredients and cook in the most hygienic way possible. In fact, home-cooked food consumption helps individuals lead a healthy life, thus saving health care bills. Apart from that, dining at home also boosts a sense of belonging among family members as they can engage in conversations and emotional support. Furthermore, it allows parents to teach their children an important life skill of cooking and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards family members as to when they engage in related chores like preparing and washing before and after meals.

To conclude, although convenience food is readily available almost everywhere and suits our hectic pace of life, I believe that home-cooked meals are worth the dedication we put in due to the advantages it brings.
