Most high-level positions in companies are filled by men even though the workforce in many developed countries is more than 50 per cent female. So, some people suggest that companies should be required to allocate a certain percentage of these positions to women.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this suggestion?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Typically, most executive-level roles are played by males even though half of the workforce is female in many developed nations. The phenomenon has evoked varied arguments from the corporate world. Some claim that corporations should provide reservation in these positions for women, but this essay dismisses this viewpoint. The writer will make a firm stand supported with compelling reasons further in this essay.
Nowadays, everyone exercises the right to education regardless of one’s gender. Besides, everybody is provided with an equal opportunity to build their career. What is more, many political and social barriers to the woman are lifted. The situation has changed. Now they can make their voices heard. Although most high-level positions are held by their counterparts, women are moving steadily up the corporate ladder.
Besides, if companies will assign a certain percentage of high-level posts to women, then it will be unfair not only for males but for females too who have managed to carve a niche for themselves in the professional world. There is a substantial number of women in the world who are prime ministers, parliamentarians, justice, CEO to name but a few. Women like Hilary Clinton, Mary T. Barra, Begum Khaleda Zia, Indira Gandhi, Benazir Bhutto, Sheikh Hasina, Safra A. Catz, and Lisa Su have set the epitome for everyone that women are not inferior to a man. They can carry out their duties and responsibilities with dignity. This is because these ladies are skilled and qualified for the positions they hold.
The writer, however, thinks that everyone should compete based on their merit and skills, not gender alone. The most eligible candidate, whether a man or woman, ought to be rewarded with top roles. There should be no gender discrimination since both genders are equal before the law. In fact, women are able to compete on a level playing field with their counterparts. Therefore, any male or female can perform top roles if he or she qualifies for an executive-level position.
In conclusion, businesses should not reserve a certain proportion of high-level posts for the woman. Only talent and qualification ought to be considered superior and be determined high priority in performing top roles.
