Nowadays, people are enjoying the liberty to work and reside in any part of the world owing to the technological advancements in the mode of communication and transportation. Although this development can cause some distractions, I believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks because it increases productivity and improves family bonds.
There exist some obvious disadvantages when people choose their convenient places to work or live. One negative aspect is the “distraction”. In simple words, employees may face various distractions while working remotely. For example, if an employee works from home, he or she may be forced to stop working for distractions at home: spouse, children, pets and so on. Besides, remote work poses a potential risk to the organization. Employees using insecure home wireless networks is one such security risk. This way, cybercriminals can spy on their connection and steal confidential information. Moreover, when people decide to relocate or move frequently, it can distract them from making strong community relationships.
On the contrary, this trend increases employee productivity which is an obvious benefit. In simple words, cloud technology has transformed business radically, so documents people are working on in Australia and France, are easily accessible in India and other locations. For instance, Google has brought about the integration of email, video conferencing, instant messaging, document collaboration and so on. With these tools, people can set out-of-office messages, coordinate schedules and share projects. This helps employees work together more effectively despite enormous distances. Thus, better collaboration increases overall productivity, enabling companies to get more work done during usual work hours. Strengthening family bonds is another distinct advantage of it. Modern transportation brings about supersonic travel, thereby saving considerable time and effort. Consequently, people can spend quality time with their families, and thus sharpens a sense of connection among members of the family.
In conclusion, although distractions and security concerns are two disadvantages, increasing productivity and strong family bonds make working remotely and living at a place people like far more beneficial.
Nowadays modern technology allows us to work from any part of the world while also communicating with people who belong to different cultures or geography in the world. Although this ultra-modern trend brings a range of various benefits for contemporary people in both work and social lives, it hides some crucial drawbacks both for the workplace and individuals.
On the one hand, the benefits of modern technologies and cutting-edge portable devices are obvious. The current generation start to work and study online by using different digital devices which they could easily use anywhere. Colleagues who work in different branches in a global corporation could easily share all relevant, latest news with their colleagues or supervise all the crucial milestones of the international project through the current apps. In term of social life, current social media platforms such as Facebook or interactive platforms such as Skype and Zoom allows extended family members to keep in touch at any moment by using smartphones and other portable devices with a connection to the Internet. These two facts support the claim that modern devices play a crucial positive role in workplaces and social life and bring us a range of positive moments and benefits.
Nevertheless, despite some valuable arguments listed above, using cutting-edge devices on a daily basis possess numerous hidden negative effects. To begin with, modern technologies might be deliberately or occasionally used or misused by the contemporary employees of local and international corporations. This might be simply using the company’s Internet for downloading inappropriate content to the serious corporate crime when the CEO sells the database of their crucial customers overseas to the competitor company, ultimately leading to the downsizing of the company competitiveness and local economy to the unemployment and tax shortage from the private sector. Moreover, modern devices which should improve our communications in different ways, in fact, overload our brain capacity with a giant amount of useful and useless information. Such overloading of the central nervous system might lead to various neurological disorders from light anxiety to the tunability to comprehend information and the brain’s stagnation.
In conclusion, despite some tangible benefits from the current technologies on our work and social life, it at the same time pales in comparison to the tremendous negative impact and could lead to a range of social catastrophes. So the drawbacks of using advanced technologies for improving our professional life outweigh the benefits.
