Model Answer:

Many people believe that pursuing a university degree is the best route to ensure a glittering career, yet others opine that students should embark on a career and acquire the first-hand experience straight after school. This essay will examine both perspectives, but I am personally in favour of starting a career early, just after finishing schools.

On the one hand, there are a plethora of reasons why tertiary education is of profound importance to getting a job. First and foremost, obtaining a university degree keeps job seekers in demand as the need for highly skilled and university-educated employees continues to rise. On the way to earning a university degree, students develop marketable skills that give them a competitive edge in the job market. Second, having a university degree also broadens pupils’ access to opportunities by connecting them to a lifelong web of professors, mentors, advisors, and colleagues. Over the course of a career, this network can unlock doors and connect them to industry leaders with whom they share ideas and undertake new ventures.

On the other hand, landing a job after school opens up the path to a promising career. People are more likely to make a fast track to an illustrious career since they do not have to spend many years for higher education. Instead of spending many years in university, they can utilize the time to gain a wealth of experience and skills in some particular areas. In consequence, they can be more attractive to the employers who search for workers that have hands-on experience and skills. Furthermore, not only can they thoroughly discover their strengths to take of advantage, equally weaknesses to overcome so as to enhance performance. As a result, they can explore the best direction, then make proper investments to secure a brilliant career. A case in point is Oprah Winfrey, who left university and worked on a radio station. Then she was offered a morning talk show in Chicago and the rest is history.

To conclude, people can pursue a distinguished career by acquiring a university degree as well as getting experience from jobs. However, I think that taking a job straight after school reaps more advantage than gaining tertiary education.
