Model Answer:

Having fun keeps us positive as well as keeps us moving in our life. So, it is important that we have fun and laugh at every opportunity we get. Needless to say, I also like to laugh and smile, and today I would like to talk about one such occasion when everybody around me laughed.

It happened a few years ago when I had just started my new job. But there was a policy (I would rather call it a “fun activity”) of my company which stated that each and every new recruit would have to stand up in front of all the staffs of the company and tell something about themselves. Naturally, when I started my new job, I also had to go through the same kind of “torture” (it was indeed like torture to me because up until that point, I never really had to talk in front of such a huge gathering of colleagues). So, since there was no way out for me from the menacing aspect of speaking in front of the public, I tried to prepare myself as best as I could by making notes on what I would talk about in front of my fellow co-workers.

Finally, the scary moment arrived when I was asked my Managing Director to stand up in front of all the company staffs to deliver some speech. But, as soon as I stood in front of them, I felt a sense of numbness in my hands and legs. Still, I took out the note and started to read from them only, of course, to find out later on that I was reading the wrong speech from the middle page of the notes instead of the first page out of nervousness, leaving everyone burst into laughter.

Anyway, everybody laughed, obviously because I made such a silly mistake out of nervousness. Besides, I feel that they didn’t expect me to read some kind of speech from notebooks, and that’s probably what made them laugh even more. Finally, my stuttering speech probably was also something which made all of them smile.
