In your letter,

  • explain why you are writing
  • why you think you deserve a salary raise
  • say what you want your manager to do for you

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Model Answer:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Hope I did not catch you at a busy time. I am writing this letter to ask for some professional favour from you.

As you know that I have been working in this company for the last six years while always giving my best to benefit my company. My company also has looked after my needs most of the times. However, when it comes to a raise in my wage, I got one about four years ago. Since then, I neither have got a salary raise nor any salary review, even though, our company has a policy of a yearly payroll review.

I think that I deserve a salary raise because not only have I worked really hard for the last six years but also helped my company save a substantial amount of money over the last few years by essentially taking on two roles – one, of course, as a Senior Executive and the other one as a Professional Trainer for the new recruits.

Therefore, based on my hard works and dedication for my company, I would really appreciate it if you could take the necessary steps to recommend a salary raise for me at your earliest convenience. I will be much obliged.

Yours faithfully,

Linda Nayomi
