Model Answer 1:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I happen to live in the neighbourhood of Bukit Tunku, and I am writing this letter to complain about a situation which, I think, has become a major concern lately for the residents of our community. Please allow me to explain the situation in brief.

It is the dogs – stray dogs that are – of which our community members are scared. And they have every reason to be scared because these dogs keep running wildly inside our neighbourhood. Some of these dogs even tried to attack some members of our community, lately. Now, I can not really claim that these dogs are completely unattended since some young children, aged between 10 to 15 years, can be seen accompanying these dogs.

Some of our community members have already advised these “unruly” adolescents not to allow these dogs to roam free in the neighbourhood, but they just can not seem to understand the danger of their foul behaviour.

In view of this problem, I would really appreciate it if you would take some concrete steps to help our community members get rid of this menacing situation, caused by these children and their dogs before anything bad happens to us.

Yours faithfully,

Amir Ishmail

Model Answer 2:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing issue concerning the safety and well-being of our community. Recently I have noticed that some adolescents in our town have been allowing their dogs to run wildly without leashes, creating a dangerous situation for residents and other pets.

On numerous occasions, I have witnessed these unruly dogs darting across roads, chasing after vehicles, and even aggressively approaching pedestrians. Such behaviour not only poses a threat to public safety but also compromises the peaceful coexistence of our community. I understand the importance of providing a safe environment for our adolescents to enjoy their leisure time; however, it is imperative that they also take responsibility for their pets. Dog owners must be aware of their legal obligation to keep their dogs on leashes and under control in public spaces. I believe that stricter enforcement of existing leash laws, along with increased public awareness campaigns, could greatly alleviate this problem.

I kindly request your intervention in addressing this issue by implementing more stringent measures to ensure dog owners comply with the leash laws. Additionally, I encourage the municipality to organise educational programmes that emphasise responsible pet ownership and the importance of maintaining public safety.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Paula Veronica
