You have been doing some voluntary work to help your local community. However, now you are unable to continue doing this work.

Write a letter to the manager of the organisation where you have been working. In your letter:

  • describe the work you have been doing
  • explain why you can no longer do this work
  • recommend another person who is interested in the work

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write your own address.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear …………,

Model Answer 1:

Dear Mr Brown,

I have been working as a volunteer in your organisation ‘Help and Hope’ for about a year and I am proud to be a part of a very noble cause. I regret to inform you that I no longer can be a part of it due to my higher studies. I am hoping that you would consider my cousin Sebastian for the work.

I joined your organisation a year ago as I was deeply moved by your initiatives to fight for the less privileged children. Since then, I have been a part of your team. I primarily worked in the field and visited slum areas to collect data. I have met many bright children during my trip and many of them are still in touch with me. I regret that I will have to move to New Zealand next November to pursue my post graduation and can no longer work for your organisation.

However, I am happy to inform you that my cousin Sebastian can be my replacement for the work. He is very enthusiastic to help those children and he is a benevolent and outgoing person. He has already shown interest in the work. I have given him your number and he will contact you soon.

I want to thank you for the opportunity you gave me and I hope you will find my cousin a fitting person for the job.

Yours sincerely,

Joseph Duggar
