English has become the lingua franca in the whole world. Which is why many people want to learn English in order to get ahead in life. However, when it comes to learning English, many linguists are of the view that the most effective method in learning English is to study with native teachers. In my view, this opinion is correct based on several factors.
To start with, a native English teacher can teach the language in a more dynamic way with less emphasis on grammar and other tedious topics. In simple words, learning from a native instructor will provide students with an insight as to how the language works in the context of English culture and norms. My uncle’s English learning experience could be a good example here. His Scottish teacher with a great mastery of the English language and culture, who taught my uncle for three years, proved to be far more equipped to help my uncle with situational problems encountered in daily life when it comes to using the language.
Similarly, a native English teacher is someone with the ability to comprehend and accurately produce idiomatic forms of English. In fact, learners can be exposed to a broad range of collocations, idioms, dialect and a usually more extensive vocabulary by a native teacher than a non-native teacher. That is to say that a native English teacher will be an epitome of the language; their English will be more idiomatic. Not only that, they will have an extensive vocabulary and they will provide students with a standard model of accent. This is why students who are guided by native English teachers end up learning the language more efficiently.
To conclude, a native English teacher is someone with a complete comprehension of fluent and spontaneous discourse, which in turn helps learners with an authentic way of learning English. Therefore, Native English teachers are inherently the best option in learning the English language.
