Model Answer:

Many people express their opinion that charitable groups should help underprivileged people beyond national boundaries, whereas others put forward the view that they ought to help only those who live in their base country. I am, however, in favour of helping anyone by charities no matter wheresoever they reside.

For a start, charitable organizations should extend their activities to any nation and people in need. This is because it will help in building harmonious relations between nations, and thereby removing obstacles in the way of world peace. Moreover, by providing aid, these organizations can expand their wings towards the most needed ones. For example, hundreds of thousands of people in war-torn Syria are in dire need of help. By helping them, donor groups can serve humanity in a better way. Furthermore, charitable organizations should surely assist developing nations at the time of natural calamity or disaster. For instance, after the devastating earthquake, many international aid agencies scrambled to deliver financial assistance and supplies to Nepal, which was much needed by those people.

Having said that, there are a few reasons why donor organizations should aid the locals. First of all, these groups can keep directly in touch with the people in need inside the country. They can follow how the resources and money provided by them are being utilized. What is more, domestic charities eradicate abject poverty, which will, in turn, ultimately drop the crime rate in their neighbourhood. Secondly, vested interest groups of recipient country are highly likely to pour money into their pocket. As a result, the goal of providing assistance cannot be achieved as the poor remains to live on the brink of destitution. Last but not least, it is a moral and patriotic obligation that the priority should always be for people in need in their own country.

In conclusion, charitable agencies should emphasize on their obligations to helping ones who are in appalling condition no matter what nationality they are. As serving people is their main objective, they should not keep their service restricted in their home country.
