Model Answer 1: [Agreement]

In this ultra-modern era, which is defined by the technological breakthrough and innovations, scientists and technology specialists are deemed more important than musicians and artists in many nations. Undoubtedly, this notion remains successful in keeping the majority in its favour. The upcoming paragraphs will shed light on my arguments pertinent to the very conception.

I wholeheartedly concur with the statement that science and technology professionals are considered more significant than artists in modern society for a variety of reasons. The primary reasons are that scientists and technology pundits invent devices and staffs that make lives easier, save millions of lives, create jobs, ensure national security and brings economic progress. People, nowadays, book a cab, order a meal and do their shopping in the blink of an eye with the help of the internet. Apart from that, scientists invent many innovations in answer to protect and save mankind. A case in point is penicillin, which we use to treat a host of bacterial infections.

To add a few more reasons, how can one forget about the economic uncertainty. Let me clarify this, in the light of ‘financial crisis’. It has become absolutely vital for businesses to deploy cutting-edge technology to gain a competitive advantage. Consequently, the increasing demand for revolutionary technology translates into the demand of scientist and technology experts. A very good example here is many technology-related companies in my country. They hire a technology specialist with a six-figure salary. Last but not least, another key reason is national security. Authoritarian governments are now empowered by high-tech weapons of oppression. They are a great threat to national security. That is why technology experts are of paramount importance so as to maintain national security. And nations who control these technologies control the world.

To conclude, I opine that scientists and technology professionals are more noteworthy to our society than musicians and artists in terms of fast, easy and secured life, as there is no reasonable arguments against the very phenomenon.

Model Answer 2: [Disagreement]

In modern society, which is endowed with technological innovations, many people argue that specialists in science and technology enjoy more respect and better position than musicians and artists. In this case, I, however, believe that musicians and artists receive more honour compared to scientists and innovators in our society, and this is mainly because they get more media coverage and are more widely known by mass people.

To begin with, scientists and technology experts are important for modern society because they offer workable solutions for everyday life. They push back the frontier of knowledge, which in turn, brings considerable benefits to the present society. But they are hardly in news and are not passionately followed by mass people. Ordinary people often do not understand the way scientists and technologists work and shape society.

Musicians and artists, on the contrary, are respectable to society due to their contribution. Musicians articulate themselves through melody and song to convey life, which enables people to relate and derive exceptional comfort from the music. Apart from this, musicians also trigger a social revolution to transform old political and economic order. Bob Marley is the quintessence of musicians who is revered for his revolutionary image as he brings attention to Jamaica’s crisis. Likewise, society also values artists for their ability to shed light on the truth in a way that influences the masses for the better. And these artists and musicians are more widely known by ordinary people. They also are often in the news and media due to mass people’s enthusiasm to know about their work and life.

To conclude, while scientists are valued for their contribution, artists receive more honour because they express universal emotion as well as provide thoughtful critiques to social, political and economic systems. They are also more widely known by mass people and respected by them as a result.
