Model Answer 1:
Education plays an important role in modern society and an ever-increasing number of pupils opt to get a university education primarily for career preparation and knowledge enhancement. Also, some of them embrace college education to enhance their experience, meet new people and improve their social status.

To achieve a degree in order to have a good career is perhaps the principal reason so many young students enrol on a college or university. They know that a college degree is a must to apply for a reasonable job and companies and businesses prefer graduates with good grades. University education is synonymous with a good career to many of them. For instance, if someone dreams to be a doctor or perhaps a lawyer, the first thing he or she needs is a relevant college degree to be permitted to practice. Then comes the expectation and desire to learn more, and enhance knowledge for which many students start attending classes in a college. Without the mentorship and guidance of teachers in colleges, it is almost impossible to be on the right track to gain more knowledge.

Furthermore, university life is exciting and offer plenty of opportunities to explore life and have friends and teachers from diverse background. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new and discuss important aspects of life including career, history, arts, science, politics and social changes with friends and teachers. Parents send their kids to colleges so that they can gain those experiences and have a positive and meaningful future life. The final, and perhaps the least important reason, in my opinion, to attend a college or university is to gain social status and prestige. Since educated people are given some attention in society, some want to exploit it and go to pursue higher education just for this.

To conclude, education enlightens us and our society, and career-building, learning, social status and broadening our horizon are the main reasons we want to continue college or university education.
