Model Answer: [View – Overall, it is a positive trend]

On the cusp of adulthood, many young people today do not live at their parent’s home and move to another place or migrate to another country in order to study or work. This essay will expound both positive and negative aspects of this phenomenon, and then state that on the whole, this is a positive trend.

Migration trend among those youths for education or job reaps considerable benefits. For an individual, it unveils a new horizon of opportunities to attain tertiary education, land a better and decent job, get professional experience, and so forth. Likewise, it also brings advantages to the recipient society. To illustrate, the theory suggests that young migrants are the human capital that enhances productivity, particularly for an ageing population. A case in point is Australia. A recent study sheds light on an amazing fact that migrant workers contribute two-thirds of the gross domestic product of the country. In the same token, the skills set, knowledge, and cultural experience acquired from studying or working abroad or another place can impact significantly on communities of origin. Remittances, for instance, are usually channelled to productive activities, which in turn, maintain a sustainable reduction in abject poverty.

On the other hand, the challenges faced by many of those youths are enormous. First of all, living away from home is obvious to deprive young people of tender loving care and support from parents. Apart from this, young migrants can have emergencies pertaining to finance, health, or even education. In such a situation, not being with one another can be very depressing. Besides, in the case of international migration, the language barrier is another acute problem. Put simply, moving to a new country or city that has a different language, migrants are bound to experience linguistic and cultural barriers.

In conclusion, the current trend of youth migration can lead to a few obvious problems, but I believe that it is a positive development as the advantages the young migration reaps can outshine its disadvantages.
