Letter Sample #69 – Training course on computer skills that you cannot attend

GT Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing) Sample # 69

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You have been selected for a training course on computer skills that you cannot attend.

Write a letter to your manager. In your letter,

  • explain how this training course would help the attenders
  • mention why you can not attend it
  • suggest a way to participate in such training in the future

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Model Answer:

Dear Sir or Madam,

First of all, I would like to thank you for organizing such an important training course on developing computer skills, and I understand that you want me to attend this training course in order to use those skills effectively at work. Unfortunately, I can not attend it right now, but I am hoping that I will complete it in the near future.

These computer skills will essentially increase the productivity and work efficiency of our co-workers immensely by saving our time. Besides, such a training course would also go a long way in eliminating many of the unnecessary fears of some of our colleagues (with limited technical aptitude) on using computer resources with a more positive frame of mind.

However, as much it all sounds good, and as much as I would love to attend the course, the truth is, I will not be able to attend it because of a schedule conflict since I would need to attend another official meeting on that exact date and time.

But, I would surely make every effort to attend such training courses in the future should you choose to organize it during the weekend or any other time during our regular working hours in lieu of afternoons during the weekdays.

Thank you in advance.

Yours faithfully,

Kevin Louis
