  • indicate where you would like to volunteer and for how long

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Model Answer:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to express my interest in participating in voluntary work in a developing country where your organisation work to help people.

I have learned a great deal about different kinds of initiatives and programmes by your esteemed organization to help people, especially, children and elderly citizens. I also want to take advantage of such great initiatives, undertaken by your organization, “One World” to help me find a volunteer work position in a great country called “India”. I want to take such an unpaid work position because I want to become familiar with a country as large and culturally diversified as India and to be able to do something for people who need help. Anyway, working in this country for six months would also provide me with a great opportunity to learn more about another part of the world.

With regard to my skills and experience, I already have some basic knowledge of Hindi language, and I also have participated in a few charitable works in our community besides working as a tourist guide for about a year.

So, based on my skills and experience, I think that I would do just fine at a volunteer work position, should you be kind enough to organise a trip for me to India.

Yours faithfully,

John Stuart
